The first response course training by NDRF jawans for the coordinators, unit representatives, masters, captains and emergency response team members of the Shaurya Disaster Management Committees formed in Dakshina Kannada district was held today at the Amrutha Varshini Sabha Bhavan in Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala.

A special training program was organized in the wake of the completion of six years of the disaster management program started by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala.
The Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Pujya Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, inaugurated the program. Shaurya volunteers are responding and helping those in distress in time during natural disasters. They are close to the people through social services. He said that volunteers should take care of their own safety during disaster management.

Matrushri Dr. Hemavati V. Heggade distributed fruit plants to the Taluk Committee Master and Captain and appreciated the activities of the socially conscious volunteers.
Shri Anil Kumar S.S., Chief Executive Officer of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, said that there are 7704 disaster management volunteers in 91 taluks of the state and they have carried out more than four lakh service activities. They are working with the fire brigade, police department, NDRF organizations. They have been carrying out social activities like building houses for the poor, repairing roads, and planting trees, he said. Volunteers are those who want the welfare of others. They should improve their financial condition, he said.

NDRF Inspector Shri Shantilal Jatiya and his team provided training on first response in times of disaster. Demonstration training was given on rescue operations during building collapse, operations during floods, operations during fire accidents, rescue with the help of ropes, use of disaster management tools, etc.

Chief Financial Officer Shantaram Pai, Agriculture Regional Director Manoj Minejas, Janajagruti Regional Director Vivek V. Paice, Belthangady Taluk Planning Officer Yashodhara, Guruvayankare Planning Officer Harish, Disaster Management Program Planning Officer Jaivanth Patagar, Kishore Kumar were present. 180 volunteers from ten taluks of Dakshina Kannada district participated.
