Matrushri Dr. Hemavati V. Heggade, Chairperson of the Knowledge Development Programme of the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, distributed fruit and nut trees to the volunteers of the Shaurya Sri Dharmasthala Disaster Management Team formed by the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project during the first response training conducted by NDRF jawans at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala.

Under the Social Afforestation Programme of the Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, fruit and nut trees are being planted in the forest for birds, and efforts are being made to avoid human-animal conflict.
There are incidents of animals in the forest entering and attacking human settlements and agricultural lands due to lack of food. When there is no food in the forest, animals naturally enter human settlements in search of food.
For the last 6 years, volunteers of the Shaurya team have been encouraged to plant fruit trees on the edge of the forest to benefit animals and birds.

In the year 2026, financial assistance is being provided from the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project to plant fruit trees across the state and to maintain the plants planted last year. Fruit trees are being distributed.
On this occasion, at a program held at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Param Pujya Khawandaru and Matrushri Hemavati V. Heggade distributed fruit trees to the Masters and Captains of Disaster Management Committees of 10 Taluks of Dakshina Kannada District.
